3 Weekend Reads for a Rainy Day: The Magnolia Journal, Seven Minutes in Heaven and A Study in Scarlet Women

Right now in Dallas it is rainy.  Not that misty rain that you cannot hear inside the house, but the rain that sounds like drops dancing across the roof and down the patio in the back.  It’s relaxing.  The thunder reminds me to rest a little while and do something easy, peaceful and enjoy a bit of extra beauty.

I have my oversized mug of Earl Grey and have a few books in my to-be read and others in my must-review pile. Here’s a list that you’ll love today.

  1. The Magnolia Journal.  Chip and Jo Gaines  have curated a lovely magazine with great paper, lovely photography, projects that beg to be tried and recipes that make me want to visit the Farmer’s Market this weekend.  Since this is the charter season, I found a copy at my local Michaels, but then to my surprise got a supplement in my BHG yesterday.   Follow the link to score a year subscription for $20

  2. Seven Minutes in Heaven by Eloisa James.  It is a winner that kept me up for two nights in a row and left me with a satisfied smile.  EJ Fans will adore the brief visits from characters from the Desperate Duchesses series.  Grab a cup of something delicious and settle in.

  3. A Study in Scarlet Women by Sherry Thomas.  A captivating recast retelling of the classic Sherlock Holmes story.  I listened to the Audible version of this book… I laughed.  I sighed.  I thought. I knit and crocheted. I was in love.  Oh my gosh!!  I can’t wait for the next book to come out in September.
